ACS Award in Inorganic Chemistry

Purpose

To recognize and encourage fundamental research in the field of inorganic chemistry.

Description

The award consists of $5,000 and a certificate. Up to $2,500 for travel expenses to the meeting at which the award will be presented will be reimbursed.

Eligibility

A nominee must have accomplished outstanding research in the preparation, properties, reactions, or structure of inorganic substances. Special consideration will be given to independence of thought and originality. The award will be granted regardless of race, gender, age, religion, ethnicity, nationality, sexual orientation, gender expression, gender identity, presence of disabilities, and educational background.

History

The award was established in 1960 by Texas Instruments, Inc. Monsanto Co. sponsored the award from 1976 to 1997. No award was given in 1977. MerckMillipore (a business of Merck KGaA, Darmstadt, Germany), formerly Aldrich Chemical Company LLC and MilliporeSigma, began sponsoring the award in 1998.
