Committee on Chemistry & Public Affairs

The Committee on Chemistry and Public Affairs (CCPA) is a joint Board-Council committee appointed by the President and Board Chair responsible for advice and recommendation for ACS action on public policy matters involving the chemical sciences and technologies.


  • Increase the Society’s impact on science policy issues, with emphasis on increasing and optimizing federal funding of key programs supporting chemical research.
  • Expand ACS member awareness and participation in science policy issues, including the development and advocacy of ACS positions on science policy issues.
  • Recognize distinguished achievements by chemists and policy leaders in advancing science and engineering, and facilitate opportunities for chemists to work in public policy positions.
