ACS International REU Program: Tips and Tricks

The ACS International Research Experiences for Undergraduates (IREU) program is accepting applications for the Summer 2014 program. The program awards 17 U.S. undergraduates with up to $10k in airfare, stipends, housing, and more. Application deadlines and other information will be released on Twitter (@ACS_IC) and the website. On December 5, 2013, Dr. Steven Meyers, Program Manager for the ACS IREU, spoke about about eligibility details and the importance of global experience to your future in chemistry. About the speakers:
Steve Meyers, Ph.D., Manager, ACS Office of International Activities
Steve has worked at ACS since 2011 managing international exchange and training opportunities for students, fellows, faculty, and industrial chemical scientists and engineers. Prior to joining ACS he previously served as a project manager for an IUPAC/NSF transnational funding call in polymer chemistry and worked as a research scientist at start‐up companies.
Julia Throop, Senior Associate, Office of International Activities
Julia has worked at ACS since 2012 and supports international collaborative efforts to extend the Society’s engagements in international education, training and in fostering collaborations. Prior to joining ACS, worked as a consultant/translator for local companies in Shanghai, China and was a contributing writer for the Boston Phoenix.
