Graduate Student Exchange Program in France

The Chateaubriand Fellowship is offered by the Embassy of France in the US and supports doctoral students registered in an American university to conduct research in a French laboratory (public or private) for a 4 to 9 month period of time as part of a co-supervised PhD. Knowledge of French is not mandatory and is left to the discretion of the host institution.

The Monabiphot Erasmus Mundus Master Program is a Master Course offering information on molecular photonics. Students taking the course will acquire skills needed to understand and utilize technological breakthroughs in the areas of telecommunications and biology. Candidates must hold at least a Bachelor of Science before the starting date.

The UNESCO-L'OREAL International Fellowships Programme is given to 15 women annually with the intent to exemplify the belief in supporting young female scientists. Winners are given the opportunity to conduct training and research conducive to on-going research projects at laboratories overseas for one year. Candidates must be no older than 35 and must be studying at the doctoral or post-doctoral level in one of the following fields: life sciences including biology, biochemistry, biotechnology, agriculture, medicine, pharmacy and physiology. Applications must be endorsed by The National Commission. Direct applications not accepted.

Scholarships for Graduate Students in France

The Master’s Scholarships In Mathematical Optimization is a one-year scholarship open to students who have completed undergraduate studies in mathematics, and who have or will have completed the first year of graduate studies  at a French institution. Candidates must be in the second year graduate students in a graduate program at the time of application.

The ENS International Graduate Scholarship Programme is open to all graduate students in the 2nd year of their Master’s or PhD programs. Students are offered the chance to travel to France to spend 6-12 months working toward the completion of Master’s or PhD degrees. Candidates applying for Master’s level program must have completed the 1st year of their Master’s outside of France. Candidates applying for PhD level program must have completed the first year of their PhD outside of France.

The Fulbright / ENS Cachan Scholarship Program offers American students the chance to travel to France for 6-12 to study toward the completion of Master’s or PhD degrees. Candidates must be non-French, but fluent in French, and over the age of 26. Candidates applying for Master’s level program must have completed the 1st year of their Master’s outside of France. Candidates applying for PhD level program must have completed the first year of their PhD outside of France.

Eiffel Scholarships provide support for graduate students in Master’s and PhD programs to travel to France for 10-months of study at French institutions. Preference is given to students in their 2nd or 3rd year of graduate study at the time of application studying in the fields of sciences, economics and management, and political science. Candidates must be non-French, but fluent in French. Candidates applying for Master’s level program must be no older than 30 at the time of applying. Candidates applying for PhD level program must be no older than 35 at the time of applying. Applications for the program must be signed and submitted by a third agency. Direct applications not accepted.

The Post-baccalaureate Grant Programme is awarded to 800 students annually in order to support continued study at research French institutions. Applications are invited from foreign students holding the French Baccalaureate and an AEFE Excellence grant. Program provides support for five years, or as much time as it takes for student to complete chosen graduate program.
