13. I am an ACS member. When I try to access ACS Member-Only Content with my ACS ID, I see a message that indicates I am not an ACS member.

14. I am an ACS member. When I try to access ACS Member-Only Content with my ACS ID, I see a message that indicates my membership has lapsed. How do I get access to this content?

16. How do I contact customer support?




1. The system doesn’t recognize my user name/ACS ID.
We can send you your user name and a new password to access your account. If you know the email address you used to register, go to Forgot User Name or Password.

If you can’t recall the email address, or if you no longer have access to that email account, contact Customer Service:

2. I forgot my user name and/or password. 
To reset your password and/or retrieve your user name:

  • Go to Forgot User Name or Password.
  • To reset your password, enter the email address you used when you created your account. We’ll send you an email with a link to reset your password.
  • To recover your user name, click the link titled Forgot your user name on the Reset Password page. Enter the email address associated with your ACS ID and we’ll send you an email message with your user name.

3. I cannot log in with my user name/password.

Both the user name and password are case sensitive (i.e., MaryWild is not the same as marywild). It may be easier to use the copy and paste functions to ensure you are using the correct case.

4. I used Forgot User name/Password, but I never received an email.
Check your spam filter for a message with the subject line “ACS ID password reset request" or "ACS ID user name request.” You should also enable receipt of messages from donotreply@acs.org.

5. How do I change my email address for my account/ACS ID?

Log in to www.acs.org/editmyprofile. Update your email address, then select "OK" at the bottom of the screen.

6. How do I delete my account/ACS ID?

7. What is the required format for my user name and password?
Your user name and password must be a combination of 4 to 16 characters and may include letters, numbers, and the following special characters: underscore (_), hyphen (-), period (.), and the at symbol (@). They cannot include space(s).

Both the user name and password are case sensitive (i.e., MaryWild is not the same as marywild).

8. My ACS ID isn’t connected to my ACS or AACT member number.

9. I have multiple ACS IDs. Can I combine them?

10. I need my ACS member number.
Use our online lookup tool to find your ACS member number. You can also find your member number on your membership card and on the mailing label of your copy of C&EN. It is either the first seven or first eight numbers on your mailing label. The following information helps to determine your membership number: 

Seven digits followed by an alphabetical character.
Example:
 1234567X.
In this case, drop the alphabetical character at the end and add a zero to the front.
Example:
 01234567. 

Seven digits followed by a space and several more digits.
Example:
 1234567 432.
In this case, enter only the first 7 digits.
Example:
 1234567. 

Eight digits with no alphabetical characters
In this case, enter all eight digits.
Example:
 01343444.

11. I need my AACT member number.
Your AACT membership number appears in your membership confirmation email. You can also contact AACT Customer Support.

12. How do I log in to the ACS Member SciFInder® Benefit?
If you participate in the ACS Member SciFinder® Benefit, your SciFinder® login credentials are separate from your ACS ID and are issued to you by CAS. The CAS Customer Center can be reached at help@cas.org or by dialing 1-800-753-4227 or 1-614-447-3700.

13. I am an ACS member. When I try access ACS Member-Only Content with my ACS ID, I see a message that indicates that I am not an ACS member.
The ACS ID you use to access ACS Member-Only Content must be connected to your ACS member number. If you have multiple ACS IDs, please log in with the one that includes your ACS member number. If you’re not sure that your ACS ID is connected to your ACS membership, contact Customer Service:

14. I am an ACS member. When I try access with ACS Member-Only Content with my ACS ID, I see a message that indicates my membership has lapsed. How do I get access to this content?

To access ACS Member-Only Content, which is a member benefit, your membership must be current. To renew your membership online, you can click on the renewal link that appeared when you tried to access the protected content, or you can log in at www.renew.acs.org . To verify your current membership status or renew by phone, contact Customer Service:

15. I am an AACT member. When I try to access AACT Member-Only Content with my ACS ID, I see a message that indicates that I am not an AACT member.
The ACS ID you use to access AACT Member-Only Content must be connected to your AACT member number. If you have multiple ACS IDs, please log in with the one that includes your AACT member number. If you’re not sure that your ACS ID is connected to your AACT membership, contact AACT Customer Support.
