Jasmonic acid is a fatty acid that plants biosynthesize from linolenic acid. It and its metabolites are hormones that regulate plant growth, development, and stress responses. Some plant pathogens, however, release the hormone coronatine that mimics jasmonic acid and diverts the plant’s immune response.
