Urushiol (poison ivy)

Beware of contact with urushiol as you pursue outdoor activities this summer. It is the primary component of the irritant oil of poison ivy and poison oak and is an extremely active allergen. Urushiol is actually a mixture of several compounds-the smallest is shown here.
