Biography: Nancy McGuire

Nancy McGuire lives and works as an independent writer in the Washington, DC, metro area. She has a Ph.D. in solid-state chemistry from Arizona State University and a B.S. in chemistry with a geosciences minor from Texas Tech University. Nancy has worked in applied materials research at the Los Alamos Neutron Scattering Center, Texas A&M University, Union Carbide, and Dow Chemical.

In 1996, Nancy became a science writer for the EPA's Environmental Response Team Center. From 1999 to 2005, she worked as an editor and writer in ACS's Special Publications division and its membership Web site www.chemistry.org. She went on to work in public affairs and media relations for the Office of Naval Research, and she managed communications for the Army High Performance Computing Research Center.
