Since 1989, Dr. Bus has been director of External Technology for Toxicology and Environmental Research and Consulting at The Dow Chemical Company. He previously held positions as associate director of toxicology and director of drug metabolism at The Upjohn Company, senior scientist at the Chemical Industry Institute of Toxicology, and assistant professor of toxicology at the University of Cincinnati. Dr. Bus is a member of many advisory committees and scientific societies, including the Environmental Protection Agency Chartered Science Advisory Board, the Food and Drug Administration National Center for Toxicological Research Science Advisory Board, the National Academy of Sciences Board on Environmental Studies and Toxicology, and the Board of Directors of The Hamner Institutes of Health Sciences. He is a diplomat and past president of the American Board of Toxicology, a fellow of the Academy of Toxicological Sciences, and a past president of the Society of Toxicology. His awards include the Society of Toxicology Achievement Award for outstanding contributions to the science of toxicology and the Rutgers University Robert A. Scala Award. Dr. Bus received his Ph.D. in pharmacology from Michigan State University, where he is currently an adjunct professor.
