American Chemical Society’s TechCatalyst™ expands

WASHINGTON, March 23, 2009 — The American Chemical Society’s TechCatalyst™ unit has announced several strategic additions to its effort to enable the commercialization of Chemistry and Allied Science-based (C&AS) technologies, including the addition of a new staffer to serve as sales manager.

In announcing the new addition, Kenneth Polk, business head of TechCatalyst™, said Floyd Jones will serve in the new position and "brings to the staff a strong background in pharmaceutical sales experience and leadership for the unit's sales efforts." Jones will be responsible for developing sales and managing customer service related inquiries toward project completion, said Polk.

Polk said TechCatalyst™ is also announcing an expansion of its existing Finder & Advisor Service (FAS) offerings to small businesses to include finding qualified, senior or executive-level scientific expertise on “temp-to-hire” terms towards growing their businesses through talent.

TechCatalyst™ is also beginning a new FAS service that advises smaller academic institutions and non-profit societies lacking in-house technology transfer personnel with advice on technology development related matters such as exercising technology options or investigating new market applications for C&AS innovations.

"The expansion will enable TechCatalyst™ to help these institutions reach some of the key milestones established for their innovation enterprises. It will enable the Finder and Adviser Service to be an external resource that improves their ability to successfully commercialize their inventions," Jones said.
