Society Committee on Education
What We Do
The Society Committee on Education (SOCED) ensures that the American Chemical Society's educational activities focus on the committee’s vision of the future of chemistry teaching and learning as it relates to education issues across all levels of instruction.
The committee fulfills its mission of developing and implementing policies and resources to advance chemistry education and to connect its diverse communities via three goals:
- Promote effective chemistry education
- Foster collaborative and sustainable environments for emerging and existing communities in chemistry education
- Identify opportunities and approaches for communication and collaboration among education stakeholders

The following policy statements were developed with input from SOCED:
Who We Are
SOCED is a Society Committee, reporting to both the Council and the Board of Directors. The SOCED Chair and a majority of the members must be ACS councilors. The SOCED Chair may serve no more than three years in this capacity. SOCED members may serve up to nine years.
