Lisa Balbes helps scientific and technical organizations produce accurate and user-friendly manuals, winning grant proposals, clear regulatory documents, and engaging articles that inform their intended audience. She works with client's subject matter experts (SMEs) to gather data, and then create the required documents and resources within the allocated timeline and budget. Products include reports, websites, PDFs, and more. Over the past 26 years, her work has included technical writing and editing of peer-reviewed journal articles, grant proposals, educational materials, documentation for medical devices, and more, using everything from MS Word to FrameMaker, and InDesign to Dreamweaver.
Lisa is also an internationally invited expert speaker on career development for scientists, who authored "Nontraditional Careers for Chemists: New Formulas for Chemistry Careers"published by Oxford University Press. She presents workshops on career development for scientists at universities, conferences, and professional society meetings worldwide. Topics include industrial, academic, government, entrepreneurial, and nontraditional careers for chemists, biologists, and other STEM professionals. In addition, she speaks on use of new technologies to manage career development, resumes, CVs, interviewing, and professional networking.
