Barbara Berrie

Barbara H. Berrie is head of scientific research at the National Gallery of Art, Washington, D.C. Dr. Berrie has always been interested in art, especially the colorants used. She has used chemical analysis to study over 300 works of art in all media, including works by Giotto, Titian, and Bellini. She obtained her Ph.D. on electron transfer reactions at Georgetown University. She was an NRC Postdoctoral Fellow at the Naval Research Laboratory where she investigated the reactions of carbon dioxide with low-valent palladium compounds
