Jim Carver, founder of the Carver Law Firm, is a Ph.D. chemist and an attorney. He has focused his law practice on science-related matters, such as environmental law and patent law. Prior to pursing his career in law, Jim was a practicing chemist for over 20 years. After receiving his Ph.D. in chemistry from the Univ. of Tennessee, Jim was on the faculties of the Univ. of Georgia and Texas A&M Univ. He also spent several years as a research chemist at EXXON Research and Development Laboratories. Jim understands the intersection of science law both from a legal prospective and from the prospective of a practicing scientist. He is a Councilor, and past Chair for the ACS Division of Chemistry and Law (CHAL), and was recently selected as a Fellow of ACS.
