Alexis Gambis is a French-Venezuelan writer and director and art-scientist whose work has been featured by The New York Times, TED, Nature, Science, and many others. He is Founder and Artistic Director of Imagine Science Films, a non-profit, promoting high-level dialogue between scientists, artists, and filmmakers. Alexis’ work is interdisciplinary and diverse, yet focuses on bridging the sciences and the visual arts through film, exhibits and visual-based research and teaching. His work includes Deju Vu, One of the Muses, and the completion of his first feature film, The Fly Room.
He received a Masters of Fine Arts from NYU Tisch School of the Arts, a Ph.D in Molecular Biology & Genetics from The Rockefeller University, a Masters in Bioinformatics from L’Universite Paris-Est de Marne-la-Vallee and a Bachelor of Arts from Bard College. Currently he is a Visiting Professor of Biology and Film at NYU Abu Dhabi.
