Thomas Holme received a B.S. in Chemistry and Physics from Loras College in Dubuque, Iowa, and his Ph.D. from Rice University. After postdoctoral work at Hebrew University in Jerusalem and the University of Pennsylvania, he participated as a Fulbright Scholar at the University of Zambia. He served an Assistant Professor at the University of South Dakota and then as an Associate Professor and Professor at the University of Wisconsin–Milwaukee. He also served as Director of the Examinations Institute of the American Chemical Society from 2002 to 2015. He has received numerous honors and accolades for his work in Chemical Education. He is currently a Morrill Professor in the Department of Chemistry at Iowa State University and is the current Editor in Chief for the Journal of Chemical Education.
