Reuben Hudson

After an undergraduate degree from Vassar College, Reuben went on to Ph.D. at McGill working with Audrey Moores and CJ Li, where he developed magnetically recoverable nanoparticles as easily retrievable and reusable catalysts for various organic transformations. Reuben then returned Stateside to Colby College where, along with Jeff Katz, he uses new polymers as catalyst supports and as polymer electrolyte membranes for fuel cell technologies.

The pursuit of varied applications for these polymers has led Reuben to collaborations around the world—a Japan Society for the Promotion of Science fellowship with Yasuhiro Uozumi and Yoichi Yamada at RIKEN in Japan, a Fulbright Visiting Professorship with Martin Wilkening at TU Graz in Austria, as well as a National Science Foundation Science, Education and Engineering for Sustainability fellowship in the US. Reuben also develops educational material for outreach events or his own Green Chemistry and Organic Chemistry courses at Colby, based on the latest developments in sustainable chemistry research.
