Alain Krief

Alain Krief is the Executive Director of the International Organization for Chemical Sciences in Development and an Emeritus Professor at the University of Namur. He has published about 300 research publications in organic chemistry and knowledge management with special emphasis on : (1) Novel synthetic methods (Use of selenium as an activating group, alpha-heterosubstituted carbanions synthesis and reactivity, small ring compounds synthesis) (2) Synthesis of small bioactive products (Pyrethroid insecticides, anti-oxidant selenomethionine, anti-viral compounds; all commercialized by leading companies as the  anti-AIDS with the Janssen-Johnson&Johnson Company), (3) Use of antibodies in organic synthesis and study of the intimate mechanism of steroid biosynthesis (4) Knowledge management and transfer, conceptualization and practice, use of  the grid technology for services, collaborative tools conceptualization and management, chemical ontology building collaboratively, learner centered activities  (EU funded project, 22 groups  with 21 non chemist) (5) Promoting with the G4 group of IOCD changes in chemist’s behavior, paradigm changes in education, education of educators, small scale and through the net experimentation) Promotion of Science in Africa with African Academy of Sciences.
