Dr. Kristin Omberg is the Group Leader at the Chemical and Biological Signature Science Group, National Security Directorate at the Pacific Northwest National Laboratory; She was formerly at the Los Alamos National Laboratory’s Center for Integrated Nanotechnologies, which explores the integration of new nanoscale materials into novel architectures and microsystems. She has been the PI on several homeland security and defense programs, including the Department of Homeland Security’s BioWatch Program. Her BioWatch team advises cities on the placement of detection equipment to optimize population protection, and on post-detection decision-making. She also manages a laboratory that evaluates biothreat assays. She has a PhD in Chemistry from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and a BS in Chemistry from Gonzaga University.
