Tobin Marks

Tobin Jay Marks is the Vladimir N. Ipatieff Professor of Catalytic Chemistry, Professor of Material Science and Engineering, and Professor of Applied Physics, at Northwestern University. His research interests include organic electronic and opto-electronic materials, oxide conductors and semiconductors, molecular electro-optics and photovoltaics, solid state chemistry and low-dimensional molecular metals, catalytic polymerization and polymer chemistry, and transition metal and f‑element organometallic chemistry.

Marks received his B.S. in Chemistry from the University of Maryland in 1966 and his Ph.D. from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in 1971. He came to Northwestern University in the fall of 1970. As of December 2015, Marks has mentored over 170 PhD students and nearly 150 postdoctoral fellows.
