Janice Silverman

Dr. Janice Silverman earned her doctorate degree from the University of Florida, where she synthesized compounds to understand glycosylase and glycosyltransferase mechanisms. She did a postdoctoral fellowship at the University of Pennsylvania where she looked at DNA synthesis of HHV-6 and KSHV (the causal agent of malignancy in AIDS) and vaccinia virus, looking at candidate compounds that prevent viral replication. She went on to do a Research Fellowship at the NIH exploring the molecular, biochemical and functional genomic tools for characterizing interactions among the Hepatitis C virus, viral gene products, cellular pathways and the host. Janice is currently an acquisitions editor overseeing the biological and medicinal chemistry journals of the American Chemical Society and work with staff and editors on implementing editorial and journal initiatives.
