Dan Sutherlin

Dan Sutherlin

Dan Sutherlin started at Genentech in 1999 in what was then the Bioorganic Chemistry Department following a BS in chemistry from Eckerd College, a Ph.D. in Organic Chemistry at UCLA and a postdoc at Berkeley. Since that time he has enjoyed the experience of working in many therapeutic areas (cardiovascular, oncology, immunology, and neuroscience) and on many different target classes including kinases, proteases, integrins, and ion-channels. Working with the Hedgehog program team, early in his career was a great introduction to medicinal chemistry and the interesting challenges that exist in drug discovery.  The chance to participate in such an exciting area of science while being focused on a serious unmet medical need continues to motivate him.
