Pete Thornton

Pete Thornton obtained a PhD in neuroinflammation from the University of Manchester in 2006 where he outlined a novel pathway through which the cytokine interleukin-1 mediates neuronal injury. During a postdoc his focus shifted to the role of systemic and cerebrovascular inflammation during acute brain injury. Having gained industry experience with spells at GSK and Biogen, Pete has been a core member of the Neuroscience biology team at AstraZeneca for past 8 years. Currently, Pete helps drive the neuroscience portfolio working within the in vitro biology team supporting both analgesia and neurodegeneration projects.
