Karen McMillan Tkaczyk

Karen Tkaczyk is a trained chemist who made the move to an unconventional chemistry career after a taking a break to have children. She has a MChem in chemistry with French from the University of Manchester (UK), a diploma in French, and a PhD in organic chemistry from the University of Cambridge (UK). She worked in the pharmaceutical industry in Europe and, after relocating to the U.S. in 1999, in pharmaceuticals and cosmetics.

She established her translation practice in 2005. She is certified by the American Translators Association as a French into English translator. Her translation work focuses on chemistry and its industrial applications and intellectual property. Karen is currently the Secretary of the American Translators Association. She works freelance from her home office in the Denver, Colorado area.
