Dr. Jeff Wilkesman received his Ph.D. in Biochemistry from Johannes Gutenberg University in Mainz, Germany. He is currently a Professor in the Chemistry Department at the University of Carabobo in Venezuela and a Guest Professor at the University of Applied Sciences Mannheim in Germany. He is also a Lecturer at the Baden-Wuerttemberg Cooperative State University in Mannheim, Germany and was recently a Senior Research Fellow at the Integrative Cell Biology Laboratory at Durham University in the United Kingdom as well as a Visiting Lecturer at ENSAT (Ecole Nationale Supérieure Agronomique de Toulouse) in Toulouse, France.
Dr. Wilkesman has had many administrative roles at the University Carabobo including the Head of the Graduate Students Office (2004-2005), Head of the Faculty Research Office (2005-07), and Head of the Chemistry Department (2007-2009). Since 2012, he has been the Founder and Director of the Environmental, Biology and Chemistry Research Centre, where his main research focus is enzyme characterization through the development of electrophoretic and zymographic methods for the study of calpain and cathepsin activities. In addition, he has been an American Chemical Society member since 2007 and a Philipp Schwartz Initiative Fellow at the Hochschule Mannheim in Germany since 2017.
