Jake Yeston joined the staff at Science as an associate editor in 2004 to handle research submissions in chemistry. In his current role as editor, he oversees the editorial group handling all research content in the physical sciences. Jake earned a Ph.D. in chemistry from the University of California, Berkeley, working jointly under Bob Bergman and Brad Moore and then conducted postdoctoral research in ultrafast spectroscopy at the Max Planck Institute for Quantum Optics, in Garching, Germany. Afterward, he was at the National Institute of Standards & Technology, where he just missed overlapping with C&EN’s Lauren Wolf in the lab next door. He lives in Alexandria, Va., and he’s learned that tweets about the escapades of his five-year-old and three-year-old daughters get much more attention than anything he has to say about chemistry or publishing.
