Chris Bannochie is currently a R&D Manager for the Savannah River National Laboratory.

He received a B.A. degree in Chemistry with a minor in Mathematics from St. John’s University and a Ph.D. in Inorganic Chemistry from Texas A&M University. He was a post-doctoral fellow at the Mallinckrodt Institute of Radiology of the Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis. In 1991, he joined the Savannah River Laboratory where his early projects involved DWPF Salt Cell Process Flowsheet development and the design, development, and deployment of the SRTC Mobile Analytical Laboratory at the Oak Ridge K-25 site and then at the Savannah River Site’s M-Area. He was a Visiting Scientist at Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory working on laser ablation/ICP-MS characterization for three years. Chris currently works in laboratory management, first as Manager of the SRNL Procedures & Training organization and most recently for Advanced & Energy Materials.

Chris is an ACS Councilor, an ACS Inaugural Fellow, and served on several elected and appointed ACS National Committees. He is currently a candidate for District IV Director.

Dr. Bannochie has been active in Diversity, Equity & Inclusion activities for the past 20 years. He loves photography, gardening, scuba, and travel – he has visited seven continents and 44 countries and resides in Augusta, GA with his husband David and their miniature schnauzer Hudson.
