What do you love about your job?
The fast paced learning environment is what I Iove most about working in the Chemicals and Materials industries. The Celanese culture fosters collaboration and gives employees opportunities to learn new things and stretch themselves. I've worked in Process Development, Process Improvement, Catalysis, Procurement, New Business Development, and now Project Management, in my 12 year career. In addition to career opportunities there is a focus on safety and family, which I've appreciated.

What has been the most exciting part of your career so far?
The most exciting parts of my career thus far have been working in New Business Development and Project Management. These roles have allowed me to look into new business opportunities and work directly with customers while staying connected to the technology and innovation groups. These roles have been a good mix of business and technical which is a great fit for my interests.

What would you tell yourself at age 18?
I would tell my 18 year old self to stay on your path, reach for every opportunity, and work hard. The benefits of all those late nights in the library and laboratory will be worth it beyond measure.

How has ACS Scholars impacted your life and career?
The ACS Scholars scholarship allowed me to focus on my studies during the school year and gain valuable knowledge during winter and summer internships. My ACS Scholars mentor through PPG, helped me with professional and career development. At an ACS Scholars event I met Dr. Joe Francisco and ultimately decided to attend graduate school at Purdue University. I have been an ACS member since 1998 and have been honored to serve on the Committee on Minority Affairs and the Women Chemists Committee.
