What do you love about your job?
I love many things about my career, but the one that stands out the most is the fact that the work I do makes a difference in many communities across the state that I live in. Being involved in forensic science allows me to contribute to our justice system through the field that I am the most passionate about.

What has been the most exciting part of your career so far?
The most exciting part of my career is the fact that it is always evolving. Whether it be the formulation of new compounds or technological innovations, it is important to remain aware of all factors that could have a potential impact on the field of forensic toxicology. This career has given me the opportunity to continue educating myself even though I am no longer in an academic setting.

What would you tell yourself at age 18?
I would tell myself to step out of my comfort zone and network as much as possible. The people you meet throughout your life are a wealth of knowledge on so many aspects of life both personally and professionally.

How has ACS Scholars impacted your life and career?
The program greatly impacted me during my academic career. I was able to focus much more on school and work less hours in order to contribute to my academic financial obligations. The program helped me reduce the amount of student loans I needed, and that was extremely beneficial while I was a student and once I graduated.
