What do you love about your job?
I love that I get to work with students closely every day and be their support system as they navigate college life and their majors in STEM. I am very lucky to serve as a coach and mentor to students at Oregon State University as most of the students in the STEM Leaders Program are first-generation and from underrepresented groups in science.

What has been the most exciting part of your career so far?
My career in higher education has been exciting for me because it has allowed me to connect with many students who share similar backgrounds and experiences to mine. I feel honored to be an ally for them and provide them with a safe space on campus. I am rejuvenated every time they get scholarships, internships and opportunities that shape them to become their best selves. It's invigorating to be surrounded by our future leaders!

What would you tell yourself at age 18?
Don't be too hard on yourself - your journey is beautiful and unique. Remember that everyone is experiencing life in their own way, so be kind to yourself and know that good things will come eventually with hard work, perseverance, and time.

How has ACS Scholars impacted your life and career?
ACS Scholars has impacted my life and career by giving me lifelong mentors who have coached, mentored, and supported me along my academic journey and beyond. I am thankful for the relationships I have built and now I get to be a part of the Younger Chemists Committee for the American Chemical Society where I can share my ideas and bring in more students of color to also get excited about chemistry. I am forever grateful for the ACS Scholars Program.
