Westlake Chemical

  • Internship Location — Sulphur, LA or Baton Rouge, LA
  • Preferred Course of Study — Chemical Engineering
  • Organizational Unit — Chemical Manufacturing
  • Internship Period — 10 weeks
  • Stipend/Salary — $8,800
  • Additional Support — Housing assistance and relocation is available. 
  • Eligibility
    • Current sophomore or junior
    • U.S. citizen or permanent resident
    • Minimum GPA of 3.5 (out of 4.0)
  • Additional Requirements
    • Must be able to provide own transportation and housing.
    • Must attend a four-year university with an ABET-accredited chemical engineering program.

Internship Description

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Independently work on assigned projects with supervision of a mentor/supervisor.
  • Observe activities of assigned department or unit, making recommendations as appropriate.
  • Assist mentor/supervisor in day-to-day tasks.
  • Actively participate in complex safety or environmental programs.
  • Maintain intern work activity journal
  • Make final presentation to management team
