A PhD Workshop for Industrial Careers

Join ACS and DuPont for a workshop exploring different industrial career opportunities for ACS Bridge Fellows and underrepresented PhD students and postdoctoral scholars (African American/Black, American Indian/Alaskan Native, Hispanic/Latinx, or Native Hawaiian/Pacific Islander) in the chemical and engineering sciences. DuPont employees will provide insight into effective communication techniques both in professional settings and in interviews, and how to develop sustainable and professional relationships through mentorship and collaboration. Participants will also have an opportunity to network with DuPonters, gain insights into the interview process, and receive advice on how to be successful as they enter and progress through an industrial career.

Workshop Goals:

• Understand the interview and hiring process
• Recognize the importance of mentoring and collaboration
• Learn about different industrial career paths
• Expand professional networks
• Improve professional communication

When and Where

The 2023 PhD Workshop for Industrial Careers will be held online on June 21st, 2023, from 1PM - 5:30PM ET.

Eligiblity

Interested applicants must be pursuing a degree in chemistry, chemical engineering, material science, mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, evironmental engineering, data science, or other closely-related field. Doctoral students should be graduated by Fall 2024 from a U.S. institution. Applicants should have at least one research publication or patent (first or co-author and pre-print or in-review are acceptable). Postdoctoral scholars that received their PhD in 2021 or later are welcome to apply.
