The American Chemical Society will be hosting the LEADS Conference, a 3-day event focused on preparing high-potential early career  professionals and students for successful and impactful careers in the chemical enterprise. This event, conceived by ACS Past-President, Luis Echegoyen, will bring together highly esteemed chemists, scientists, professionals, and Nobel Laureates for networking, self-reflection, career exploration, mentoring, and technical discussions.

Ultimately, attendees will depart having

  •  An increased knowledge of the vast array of chemical careers and how they intersect with global grand challenges
  •  An individual development plan to map out and pursue a career 
  •  An enhanced understanding of one's own strengths and unique skillsets
  •  A broadened network of peers and high-profile scientists for future collaboration and mentoring

When and where is the LEADS conference?

The conference will take place at the Hamilton Hotel July 18-20, 2022 in Downtown Washington, D.C.

Application Process

The LEADS conference is intended to bring together a diverse group of promising chemistry students and professionals for three days of career development and networking. If you have a passion for chemistry and are committed to using it to improve your world, check back at a later time for future opportunities.

Webinar for Conference Participants: Creating a Sustainable World through Chemistry - U.N. Sustainable Development Goals

Tuesday: May 24, 4-5pm ET

This interactive webinar is exclusively for ACS LEADS conference participants. It will provide information about how the United Nations (U.N.) brings the world’s nations together to discuss common problems and find shared solutions that benefit all of humanity. The rationale for the United Nation’s sustainability development goals (SDGs) and how the organization measures progress globally will be discussed. Chemists will share how the global chemical science community can help achieve the SDGs. The Q&A session will allow LEADS conference participants to have a conversation with experts from the U.N., ACS, and broader chemistry enterprise. Conference attendees should register in advance for this meeting.
