'U' is for Upside-Down

'U' is for Upside-Down

Umberto likes to see things
When he is upside-down.
What a different view he gets
From others in his town!

Umberto’s getting tired
From standing on his head.
It’s messing up his hairdo.
What could he do instead?

We need to help Umberto
Stand straight up on the street,
So things will look flipped over
When he stands on his feet!

Why do Umberto's objects look upside-down?

When light rays pass through a magnifying lens, the rays are bent so that the top of the object appears at the bottom and the bottom of the object appears at the top. When the lens is held at a certain distance from the object and a piece of paper, the result is an upside-down image of the paper.
