Dr. Roy V. Harrington Award for Science Teacher Professional Development
Purpose: Dr. Roy V. Harrington was a 59-year loyal member of the American Chemical Society who passed away in 2011. Dr. Harrington worked for many years at the Ferro Corp. in Cleveland, Ohio, where he was Vice President and Corporate Director of Research. At his request, Dr. Harrington’s estate made a generous donation to the Northeastern Ohio ACS (NEOACS) Local Section to support teacher professional development. As such, NEOACS is proud to honor his memory and service with the Dr. Roy V. Harrington Award for Science Teacher Professional Development. Two award winners will be sponsored by NEOACS to attend the annual Ohio Chemistry Technology Council’s (OCTC) Teachers, Industry, and Environment (TIE) Conference:

Two award winners will be selected each school year, one each from Lake and Ashtabula County. Nominations can be made by school administrators, faculty or staff. Applicants may also self-nominate with a supporting letter of recommendation. Nominees are not required to be ACS members.
