With documented results from the program’s first three years, ACS began to seek external funding to enlarge the pool of scholarship recipients.  Cumulative gifts since 1997 have reached the following levels:

Visionary Partners $500,000 3M, The Camille and Henry Dreyfus Foundation, and GlaxoSmithKline
Sustaining Partners $250,000 ACS Petroleum Research Fund, BASF, Dow Corning, DuPont, Merck & Co. Inc., Schering-Plough, and Société de Chimie Industrielle
Partners $100,000 Air Products, AstraZeneca, CME ACS, Celgene, Covestro, The Dow Chemical Company, Genentech, Gilead Sciences, Pfizer, and Xerox

Gifts from $2,500 to $99,000 have been received from more than 40 corporations and foundations, and individual ACS members have donated more than $1 million.

Endowment Founders

In addition to these generous contributions, ACS has established the ACS Scholars Program Endowment that will encourage diversity in the chemical sciences well into the future. Individuals or corporations may create a named scholarship with a $100,000 contribution to the endowment.
