The European Union Contest for Young Scientists (EUCYS)

Started in 1989, this initiative by the European Union (EU) brings together young researchers between the ages of 14 and 21 years. The contestants can register as individuals or as groups of up to 3 people and must have previously won a competition at the national level. They must be designated by their National Organizers – details of eligible countries can be found on the website for the awards. The contestants compete for nine core prizes and other awards. They set up their projects in a display area and then are interviewed and quizzed by the jury. This week long event is held in a different European country every year.
