Undergraduate Student Fellowships and Exchange Programs

The Budapest Semester in Cognitive Science is a study abroad program allowing U.S. undergraduates broaden understanding of cognitive science through international research and teaching. Candidates must be undergraduate students with a GPA of 3.0 or higher at the time of applying.

The Hungarian Scholarship Board’s Semester/Partial Studies Program is a 3-10 month study abroad program available for undergraduates and graduates pursuing degrees in the STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Medicine) fields. Candidates must have completed at least two semesters of study toward their degrees. Age limit for applicants is 30 years.

US undergraduate students can apply for the Boren Scholarships to learn a foreign language and study abroad (in any country outside of USA, Western Europe, Canada, Australia, or New Zealand.) Applications can be made for a summer program (minimum 8 weeks; for Science, Technology, Engineering and Math- STEM students only), a semester or a full academic year. All students are expected to have a significant language component as part of their proposed study abroad. In exchange for the scholarship funding, selected candidates must agree to the NSEP Service Requirement.

The Study Abroad in Hungary Program allows students in pursuit of undergraduate degrees to study in Hungary for periods of 6-12 months. Program courses meet twice a week for 80 minutes and cover Central European Studies. Courses in the program can satisfy transfer credits of 15–17 per semester (22.5–24 quarter hours), or 30–31 per semester (45–46.5 quarter hours). Students must be enrolled in undergraduate programs in the U.S. and must hold overall GPA of 2.75 in those programs at the time of application.

The Hungarian Scholarship Board’s Summer Courses Program is a 2-4 week study abroad program available for undergraduates and graduate students. Students may take only one course per session per program. Only courses published in the list of ‘Summer Courses’ on the HSB website can be selected. There is no age limit for applicants.
