Core Fulbright U.S. Scholar Program

The Core Fulbright U.S. Scholar Program sends approximately 800 scholars and professionals per year abroad, where they lecture and/or conduct research in a wide variety of academic and professional fields. Candidates must be U.S. citizens and hold a Ph.D. or equivalent.

Agencies Involved: The Fulbright Program, United States Department of State, the Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs, and the Council for International Exchange of Scholars (CIES)

Key Dates: Call for 2014-2015 competition will open on February 1, 2013.


South African Senior Research Fellows

The South African Senior Research Fellowship is designed for post-doctoral researchers looking to gain international understanding through scientific study in South Africa. Program runs for 5 years.

NRF Free-Standing Fellowship

The NRF Free-Standing Fellowship is intended for post-doctoral researchers looking to attend conferences and seminars in South Africa in order to enrich their study. The travel grant will provide funding for one visit to South Africa to attend a lecture, seminar, or conference, or to visit a local laboratory. Grant allowance is 2-3 months.
