4th Federation of African Societies of Chemistry (FASC) Congress

Selected ACS Young Talent Ambassadors were awarded by the collaborative alliance between the American Chemical Society (ACS) and the South African Chemical Institute (SACI) in the form of an invitation to attend the 4th Federation of African Societies of Chemistry (FASC) Congress, where they were allowed to share their research at oral or poster sessions for the meeting.
The Ambassadors participated in a Roundtable session, where they were able to connect with ACS/SACI communities and engaged in dialogue about best practices in preparing and publishing scientific manuscripts, developing funding proposals, networking, and communicating chemistry to the general public. In attendance were such esteemed scientists as Professor Mamia El Rhazi, President of the Association of Analytical Chemicals (AMCADD), Dr. Khalid Lafdi, Endowed Chair of the Wright Brothers Institute, Dr. Temechegn Engida, President of the Federation of African Societies of Chemistry (FASC) Dr. Brad Miller, Director of the Office of International Activities at the American Chemical Society, among others.
The Ambassadors were also encouraged to share their experiences with ACS, and with their networks at home. The response to the experience was overall positive, with one participant commenting: “Thank you very much for the opportunity. It was a life-changing moment for me. I am humbled to be part of this great success.”
