Cell phone, it’s all I need!

Window or aisle?

Window

Where would your dream business trip take you? What appeals to you about this destination?

Greece, the scenery, architecture, food.

How do you pass the time while flying?

Watching movies, comedies, especially if Ben Stiller stars.

Favorite ACS meeting site?

San Diego – I had two very young daughters at home in Philadelphia when I first traveled to San Diego for an ACS meeting. I called my husband and jokingly told him that while I loved them all very much, I wasn’t coming back! I really enjoyed the weather, water, walkability, and restaurant scene. San Diego never disappoints!

What do you do to alleviate jet lag?

Drink plenty of water.

Was there a business trip you have taken that went particularly badly? What happened?

I arrived in Manchester, UK, and was staying at a hotel directly across from the Manchester United Stadium--they were playing Liverpool. The hotel lobby was packed with people at 7 AM, the game started at 1 PM, and the restaurant was closed for a private event. There was nowhere to sit, nowhere to go. It was raining. I was eventually able to purchase a pickle sandwich.  Not a fan of that cuisine!

Your best business travel tip for readers of ACS Industry Matters?

Keep an umbrella and light rain jacket in the suitcase you regularly use. Be sure to have local currency, some of the best “off the grid” restaurants don’t accept credit cards.
