General

  • What is SciMeetings?

ACS created SciMeetings to ensure early-stage research is accessible to the scientific community, making it possible for researchers to share their posters and/or presentations beyond the conference. ACS is committed to facilitating the exchange of science conducted globally, and that means evolving as events become virtual and hybrid.

SciMeetings was launched in 2020 and is the official archive and repository for ACS Meetings & Expositions. To date, a total of over 5,250 posters or presentations have been uploaded to the platform, powered by Morressier, with over 227,000 content views.

Presenter Registration

  • I submitted an abstract for inclusion in the ACS National Meeting. What now?

Your presenter abstract(s) will automatically appear in SciMeetings as the official meeting archive and repository for ACS Fall 2022. You do not need to take an action.

  • I paid the $45 student; $60 premium member; or $90 basic/standard member/non-member fee for my poster(s) or presentation(s) to appear on SciMeetings. What now?

Your payment will be recorded and you will receive email invitations from Morressier on behalf of SciMeetings after the meeting with a link to upload your poster and/or presentation onto the SciMeetings platform. The email and reminders will ask you (the presenter) to log in and consent to the terms & conditions, upload your poster and/or presentation file, and upload any additional supplemental files (datasets, audio or video). You will have approximately one month to complete this process. Posters and presentations on SciMeetings will become available to attendees following the close of the event and then the public approximately one month after the event platform closes.

  • I have more than one poster or presentation that I would like uploaded to SciMeetings. How do I add the SciMeetings fee for more than one presentation?

A drop-down quantity box will appear during the registration process. Be sure the quantity matches the number of abstract IDs you plan to publish.

  • I completed my registration and did not select to pay for SciMeetings, but have changed my mind. Can I still pay for my poster(s) or presentation(s) to appear on SciMeetings?

Yes. You can log back into your account and visit the Registration Resource Center to add SciMeetings to your registration. You should do this before September 1, 2022.

  • Do I need to complete any other action?

We strongly encourage presenters to record a video discussing the research findings in your poster or presentation. This will help you utilize the Q&A networking feature. Using a comment feature, embedded under the video, attendees and the public can comment on your research after the meeting. You can record a video using the virtual meeting (ACS Fall 2022) BroadcastMed platform until September 1. When complete, please upload the .mp4 file to SciMeetings as a supplemental file.

Platform/Technical

  • When will I receive a DOI and CC BY-NC-ND license for my conference materials?

Once you complete the SciMeetings login process and accept the license terms and conditions, you will receive your DOI in 5-7 business days. As the lead author, you will receive this information by email. Please share the DOI with your co-authors. You can also find the DOI on the platform when available, by selecting Copy DOI.

(Note: In some instances you may need to re-upload your materials to SciMeetings, please retain a copy for your records).

  • How do I add my co-authors to my SciMeetings submission?

After you login to SciMeetings, view the navigation panel on the left of the page and select “My submissions”. Select the poster or presentation you wish to edit by clicking the “Edit submission” button. Select the tab “Invite co-authors” and add their names and email addresses as they appear on your conference materials. Click “Save” and an invitation will be sent to your co-author(s).

If you need help adding co-authors or updating the order in which the authors appear, please contact Morressier Support at support@morressier.com or the SciMeetings team at scimeetings@acs.org.

  • How do I add my photo and affiliation to SciMeetings?

Log into SciMeetings with your ACS ID, click on your name in the upper right corner, then select “Settings”. Click “Edit details” to add your affiliation. You can upload a photo to personalize your account.

  • Why are PDFs the only file type accepted for posters and presentations?

The Portable Document Format (PDF) is a universally accepted format for document display independent of application software, hardware, and operating system. This is the best way to ensure your poster or presentation is presented exactly as you crafted it, whether viewed on a monitor, tablet, or mobile device. PDFs also facilitate download and offline viewing of your work. While the primary poster or presentation must be in PDF format, supporting materials can be uploaded in the native file format (see below).

  • What types of metadata or supporting files can be uploaded and how are they viewable on SciMeetings?

SciMeetings accepts posters or presentations in PDF format. Title, author, affiliation, keywords, and abstract are captured and viewable on SciMeetings.

Additional files may be uploaded as supporting information. The following file formats are supported (with a maximum file size of 150 MB):

    • Images – jpg, png, bmp
    • Audio – mp3
    • Video – mp4
    • Data – csv, xls
    • Other – PDF
