FAQS

  • Will registration be required? When will it be available?

    All attendees and presenters will be required to register. Registration pricing is now available. Registation will open in the coming weeks. 

  • What types of presentations will be included in the meeting?

    Broadcast sessions: Pre-recorded presentations with slides and audio/video will be broadcast during scheduled times to allow for real time chat conversations with presenters. Video Q&A with session presenters will be available at the conclusion of each session. Each programming division or committee will be allotted a limited number of Broadcast sessions.

    On Demand session: Pre-recorded presentations with slides and audio/video will be available on-demand for the duration of the Fall 2020 Virtual Meeting & Expo. Message based discussion between viewers and presenters will be available within the platform portal. Content will be available through August 28 or for a single, 2-hour time period if the presenter requests that access to their content be limited. 

    Poster On Demand session: A single slide or PDF of the poster will be available on-demand for the duration of the Fall 2020 Virtual Meeting & Expo. Presenters may include a brief audio along with their poster. Message based discussion between viewers and presenters will be available within the platform portal. Content will be available through August 28 or for a single, 2-hour time period if the presenter requests that access to their content be limited.

    All presenters will have the option to limit (embargo) access to their presentation to a single 2-hour period, or allow access to view for the duration of the meeting. Broadcast presentations will be available on demand following the scheduled broadcast session, except those where limited access is requested by the presenter.

    Live video networking rooms will be available for each programming division to have deeper conversations around any topic presented. 

  • Will there be an Exposition?

    Yes, we are planning an exposition floor with options to interact with exhibitors.

  • What time zone will this meeting occur in?

    The meeting schedule for broadcast events and live chats will be in Pacific Daylight Time (PDT). Meeting content will be available on demand for attendees to access at their leisure with the exception of the content embargoed by individual presenters.

  • How is ACS addressing intellectual property (IP) concerns?

    We are working with the virtual meeting platform provider to be able to accommodate those presenters with IP concerns.

  • I'm a presenter and don't know how to add my content to the virtual platform.

    Presenter information and resources will be be distributed in the coming days and weeks along with scheduling notices.

  • Will abstracts and presentations from this meeting be added to SciMeetings?

    All presenters will have an opportunity to upload their presentation into SciMeetings at the conclusion of the Fall 2020 Virtual Meeting & Expo. Abstracts will be automatically added as a part of the meeting archive.

  • If my abstract was accepted for the Fall 2020 meeting, can I choose to move it or present it at the Spring 2021 meeting?

    Abstracts will need to be re-submitted by presenters or authors for the Spring 2021 National Meeting when the call for abstracts opens later in 2020. 

  • Will Career Navigator LIVE and other career resources happen during the virtual meeting?

    Career Navigator LIVE! events will take place in other forms outside of the Fall 2020 Virtual Meeting & Expo. Many of these opportunities are currently available. ACS is looking at ways to give Fall 2020 virtual meeting attendees additional access to these events.

  • Will virtual aspects be a part of all future national meetings?

    Yes, ACS believes a virtual component will exist in future national meetings as a hybrid virtual/in-person meeting.

  • How long will registered attendees have access to Fall Meeting content?

    The Fall 2020 Virtual Meeting & Expo will be August 17 - 20 with live and broadcast events. Sessions will be available on demand from August 17 - 28, 2020.

  • Will the Kavli Lecture Series occur during the meeting?

    Yes

  • Does accepted national meeting content have to be programmed by the division inside of the virtual meeting platform to be considered part of the Fall 2020 Virtual Meeting & Expo?

    Yes. Content must be presented on the meeting platform in order to be considered part of the ACS Fall 2020 Virtual Meeting & Expo. ACS has identified a virtual conference platform that will enable all accepted content to be shared. Divisions are welcome to organize events (e.g. symposium Zoom chats) that enhance the content presented on demand. Links to these networking rooms will be available in the virtual platform along with schedules for these rooms, managed by each division.

  • Will the ACS Spring 2021 National Meeting & Expo take place in person?

    At this time, ACS is planning for a physical Spring 2021 National Meeting & Expo.
