Brassinolide is a natural steroid that promotes cell elongation and division in plants. In 1979, M. D. Grove and colleagues isolated it fromĀ Brassica napus(rapeseed) pollen and characterized it. This year, research groups in the United States and China, working separately, showed thatĀ a plant hormone receptor protein that senses brassinolide has a superhelix conformation.
