Clobetasol propionate is a topical glucocorticosteroid that is used to treat skin conditions such as dermatitis and psoriasis. Its preparation and that of similar compounds were reported by Glaxo Laboratories (now GlaxoSmithKline) in a 1969 German patent.

Clobetasol propionate is known as a “superpotent” corticosteroid that penetrates the skin rapidly. A member of the MOTW staff found it to be very effective against “a particularly stubborn bout of poison ivy”.
