Biography: José C. Barros

José C. Barros is a Brazilian chemical engineer who received a B.S. degree from the Military Institute of Engineering in Rio de Janeiro. He studied for 1 year at Clermont-Ferrand’s Superior National School of Chemistry in Aubière, France, and then received an M.Sc. degree in organic chemistry in 2006 from the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (UFRJ), where he worked on the synthesis of new HIV protease inhibitors.

Barros is currently working toward his Ph.D. at UFRJ under the supervision of professors J. F. M. da Silva and O. A. C. Antunes. His field of study is the synthesis of selective estrogen receptor modulators by palladium-assisted carbon–carbon coupling.
