Dr. Kaler is the Provost and Senior Vice President for Academic Affairs at Stony Brook University. He has served on the faculties of the University of Washington and the University of Delaware, and has been a visiting professor at the Universitat of Graz. Dr. Kaler is a Fellow of the American Association for the Advancement of Science and has chaired three Gordon Research Conferences. He was one of the first recipients of the NSF’s Presidential Young Investigator Awards, and his many other awards include the Curtis W. McGraw Research Award from the American Society of Engineering Education and the American Chemical Society Award in Colloid or Surface Chemistry. He is the founding co-editor-in-chief of the journal Current Opinions in Colloid and Interface Science and has served in editorial positions for many other scientific journals. He has authored or co-authored over 200 peer-reviewed papers, holds ten U.S. patents, and has been a consultant to numerous companies.
