Media invited to ACS teleconference on the future of green chemistry

WASHINGTON, April 14, 2009 — News media covering the environment, chemistry, and related topics are invited to join an American Chemical Society (ACS) Careers Industry Forum teleconference on the opportunities in green chemistry — where the field stands and where it is heading in the future.

Scheduled for 2 – 3 p.m. ET on April 16, the teleconference will feature Robert Peoples, Ph.D., the Director of the ACS Green Chemistry Institute®. The topic is “Green Chemists and Engineers — There’s Never Been a Better Time.” An internationally recognized speaker in the areas of sustainability and innovation, he previously served as Sustainability Director for the Carpet & Rug Institute, Executive Director of The Carpet America Recovery Effort (CARE) and President of the Environmental Impact Group.

The series of teleconferences is scheduled monthly (with the exception of December) through 2009, according to Liane Gould, manager of career services for ACS, which has 154,000 members. There will be a 30-minute discussion with Peoples followed by a 25-minute Q & A session.

News media can tune into the conference without charge, but must register in advance at the ACS Careers Web site, which also provides information about future forums.
