LANXESS CEO delivers keynote address at American Chemical Society’s Virtual Career Fair

WASHINGTON, Aug. 31, 2011 — Randy Dearth, President and CEO of LANXESS Corporation, will deliver the keynote address today at the American Chemical Society (ACS) Virtual Career Fair. During his 3 p.m. EDT speech, Dearth will offer his insights on career development and growth as well as his perspective on the future of the chemical industry and the solutions companies like LANXESS provide.

This free, one-hour session is part of the ACS Webinars™ series. Dearth’s speech is entitled From Scientist to CEO. News media and scientists can (dial or call) into the conference without charge, but must register in advance.

Dearth’s topics will include:

  • How career plans can differ from career paths,
  • The challenges currently facing the chemical industry; and
  • The solutions provided by today’s chemical companies.

Randall S. Dearth was named President and Chief Executive Officer of LANXESS Corporation in July, 2004. In August, 2008, LANXESS’ Canadian service operations were added to his existing responsibilities when he was named Managing Director, Region North America. Previously, he had been President and Chief Executive Officer of Bayer Chemicals Corporation since 2003. Dearth joined Bayer in 1988 as a development chemist in the automotive coatings development laboratories. From 1993 to 1997, he was on assignment in Germany, where he was responsible for market development in Europe and Asia. Upon returning to the United States, he managed the coatings and colorants resins business before being named director of the division's monomers and adhesives business. Among other positions, he also was head of the global powder coatings business group. Dearth earned a bachelor's degree in chemistry at Hiram College, and a master's degree in polymer science and engineering at Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland.
