SoCal kids to try chemistry experiments at Discovery Science Center March 26

SANTA ANA, March 21, 2011 — Families, science enthusiasts and children of all ages will have fun with chemistry and explore its role in everyday life through hands-on, age-appropriate activities at the Discovery Science Center (DSC) in Santa Ana. The outreach event is free with purchase of DSC admission, and is hosted by the American Chemical Society (ACS). The activities will be led by ACS members who are attending the Society’s 241st National Meeting & Exhibition in Anaheim.

Nine different activities will be available, including how to use household chemicals to create special effects seen on television and in the movies, such as making snow; conducting experiments with copper; and making biodegradable building blocks from cornstarch.

What: Hands-on chemistry experiments for children of all ages during an outreach event of the American Chemical Society (ACS).

Where: Discovery Science Center at 2500 N. Main Street, Santa Ana, Calif. 92705

Admission: $12.95 Adults/$9.95 kids

When: Saturday, March 26, 11 a.m. – 2 p.m. (DSC is open 10 a.m. – 5 p.m.)
